On Thursday, April 12th, students, students and teachers from Lycée des Métiers attended a presentation by the Red Cross who came to the school to present their actions. This international humanitarian organization, created in 1864 in Geneva by Henri Dunant, takes care of helping people in need (homeless, migrants, drug users …).
As his representative explained during this presentation, the actions of the Red Cross are multiple: domiciliation of the homeless by allowing them to have a postal address and receive mail, sale of clothes at lower cost, food aid, support for migrants in administrative procedures that are sometimes very complex in France, French courses for foreigners who do not master the national language, SAMU social to direct people to adapted structures especially during periods of extreme cold … The Red Cross also cares for elderly and / or disabled people by offering, for example, outings to the cinema. They explained the situation of refugees in France and in Europe and they answered to the answer of the students regarding the refugees.
