Dec 2018 – Slovakia mobility

From Sunday 2nd to Saturday 8th December 2018

Sunday 2 December: On the way to Slovakia!
Morning: Everyone had risen early this morning to meet at 7:30 at the airport. The students are ready to fly to Slovakia for a week’s stay.
Evening: we arrived in Zilina after a day of plane and bus. We settled in our hotel and as the day was a little tiring – you have to sleep well to be fit for the week. Tomorrow – we will discover the hotel school of Zilina.
Monday, December 3rd:
First day in Zilina.
After a hearty breakfast, the students went to the hotel school that receives them all week. They were greeted by the school director and high school students who had prepared a welcome show to introduce them to Slovak culture. The morning continued with the visit of the classrooms.
The afternoon was more studious: each participant introduced himself to others in English before receiving an introduction to the Slovak language. After a snack and a few dance steps, the students ended the day with a dinner together.
Tuesday, December 4th:
This second day in Slovakia was under the sign of tradition. The students participated in various activities: introduction to oenology with wine tasting, preparation of cocktails, art of decorating cappuccino, decoration of Christmas cakes, realization of patterns in sugar paste and cooking workshop. After that, they could taste the typical dishes of a Slovak Christmas meal.
In the afternoon, they participated in sports activities before enjoying a pajama – disco party.*


Wednesday, December 5th:
The high school that welcomes us today organized its open day. Throughout the morning, we were able to come and go freely to discover the different specialties taught in this hotel school.
After lunch, the students created virtual greeting cards while the teachers attended a conference on the schooling of students with disabilities. We then all found ourselves for an activity on the theme of refugees.
At the end of the day, free time allowed to discover the city of Zilina and its Christmas market.
Back at the hotel, everyone had the pleasant surprise to discover a chocolate St Nicolas on his pillow.
Thursday, December 6th:
A busy 4th day! In the morning, we visited two schools specializing in the reception of students with disabilities and participated in workshops. The students who received us had prepared small shows on the occasion of St Nicolas.
In the afternoon, we went to discover the hinterland: Strara Bystrica and its astronomical clock, Terchova and its museum devoted to the national hero, Janosik.
The evening ended with a traditional Slovak meal.
Friday, December 7th:
It’s time to say goodbye. The Erasmus + project participants were received at City Hall as part of an official ceremony during which the mobility participation certificates were awarded. Then we shared our last meal together in the reception hall of the town hall. The students made their last purchases before returning to the hotel to prepare their luggage. A few hours of sleep and it will think to return to France.
Saturday, December 8th:
A very early morning at 4:15. After 3 hours by bus, we reached Vienna airport where we had breakfast. As the flight was scheduled to 17:20, we took the opportunity to visit a little Vienna and discover its Christmas markets.
